The new year is a time to embrace change and look forward to future adventures - which can be difficult when everyone still feels distinctly like a Christmas pudding (stodgy, steeped in brandy)… January is well underway, and with many resolutions already discarded like shiny wrappers from the Quality Street you’re not meant to be eating, it might be time for a new strategy. Here at Corus Hotel Hyde Park, we’re lucky enough to be in the perfect location to enjoy London, and we want to inspire you to enjoy it too – even in the bleak midwinter. There’s so much to do all year round and now that the Christmas rush is over, London can be experienced at a more leisurely pace. We recently asked our guests at the hotel and on Facebook to share with us their favourite things about London in January, and here are some of their answers… “I LOVE the January Sales” It goes without saying, but we’ll say it anyway. There’s nothing like nabbing a bargain to freshen up your wardrobe or your home in preparation for spring, and there’s nowhere like London for a bit of retail therapy. “Seeing the lights of Lumiere London Light Festival” London is lit up in a glorious nocturnal art exhibition with more than 50 artworks from 18th-21st January. It’s free to visit this dazzling display, which is the UK’s largest light festival – perfect for brightening up your January. “All the quirky cafes making healthy eating easier” London boasts an abundance of fantastic eateries with bags of personality and inventive menus. The new year tends to bring with it a desire to consume something green (sadly, the green triangle no longer counts), and you’ll find many a healthy food fix in the city, including fantastic British and Malaysian dishes in our restaurant, The Brasserie at Hyde Park. “Visiting amazing galleries and museums without the crowds”
The perfect time to enjoy London’s museums is now. No more elbowing in exhibitions or standing in stifling queues. As entry is free to so many museums and galleries, you can have many an interesting day out that’s gentle on the January budget. “Bright shop windows in the dark early evenings” It feels as though the dark nights are clinging on for too long at times, but we’re looking on the positive side! Warming shop windows cheerfully illuminate your way home, and stopping for a velvety hot chocolate in a bright café with steaming windows is definitely allowed. “A crisp walk through Hyde Park to blow the cobwebs away” We know, we’re biased, but we think our neighbour Hyde Park is simply stunning, even when the trees are bare. Banish the January blues with a stroll to freshen up, enjoy the scenery, and warm up afterwards with a spot of afternoon tea in our conservatory restaurant. Fancy staying with us in the heart of London? We’re offering 25% off your stay and free breakfast until the end of March 2018 if you book before January 31st! Share
