Every year, one in four of us in the UK will experience a mental health problem.
An estimated 450 million people worldwide suffer from such conditions, which puts mental disorders among the leading causes of ill-health and disability. Therefore, at Corus Hotel Hyde Park, we have chosen to raise money for Mind – The Mental Health Charity, to give people access to the support and services they deserve.
Staff members have already completed a 10km RunThrough event in Victoria Park, London and we have also hosted a charity bake off event in the hotel. There’s a lot more fundraising activity planned, starting with the Windsor Colour Obstacle Rush on Saturday 18th May and we asked some of those who have taken part so far what has inspired them to raise money for such an important cause.
Sandra, General Manager
"I believe that if we all from time to time were to help someone else for a good cause the world would be a better place. We can all do our bit, have a coffee less and donate that money instead. That little bit of help doesn’t cost us much but could potentially save someone’s life or help them with their well-being. I have seen many lives affected by mental health challenges (within my own family, friends and their families) and noticed that in many countries, the systems in place are not great. It is quite difficult for the individual to get adequate help, so anything I personally can do to improve this I am happy to support."
